Good Morning Parents,
Starting tomorrow, WPMS/WPHS will be offering an after-school study hall in the Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 to 5:00 PM.
1st Semester Dates:

After School Academy Vision:
WPMS/HS offers a structured study environment after school, run by teachers and, when possible, volunteer NHS tutors. Any student is welcome to stop by for help, to catch up on assignments, or to form study groups. While students are encouraged to attend on their own, we request parents' help in encouraging or even requiring their students' attendance. If students fall too far behind in their classes, attendance may become mandatory in an effort to decrease failure rates. WPMS will require students who are failing multiple classes to attend until they catch up.
Thank you, and GO CADETS!
Reminder: All 10th graders will attend a Career Day at Wayne State College tomorrow, Oct 15th. Please remind your students to dress appropriately for walking on campus. Lunch is provided. We will leave at about 8:15 and return at 3:00.

This past week we have noticed an increase in respiratory illnesses that have developed into pneumonia in some cases. After reaching out to our local hospital and health departments I am sending out this informative email on things to look for. Please note that WPPS is implementing additional disinfecting practices to assist in diminishing the potential for further transmission.
We would like to encourage everyone to practice good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. If you or your loved one has signs or symptoms of pneumonia, it is recommended for you to see your provider. An antibiotic may or may not be needed.
Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
If you are sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
Precautions that can be taken to protect others from respiratory illness include taking steps for cleaner air and hygiene practices like cleaning frequently touched surfaces.
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wearing a mask is an additional prevention strategy that you can choose to further protect yourself and others. When worn by a person with an infection, masks reduce the spread of the illness to others. Masks can also protect wearers from breathing in infectious particles from people around them.
Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way.
You can improve air quality by bringing in fresh outside air, purifying indoor air, or gathering outdoors.
Signs and Symptoms of Pneumonia

Shortness of breath
Chest pain when you breathe or cough
